Astrological Insights & Invitations ~ New Moon in Scorpio, November 2021
Happy New Moon Totem Fam!
I have to say, this week is one of the most magical and transformative weeks of the year as we honor the Scorpio New Moon days after Samhain, Dia de los Muertos, and in the midst of Diwali. This week is the definition of the space between space, or liminal, which holds so much potential that our universe is bursting with creation. During this week, the veil is thinned and a deeper devotion to something greater will likely be inspired by the events that transpire in your life… if you allow it.
This Scorpio New Moon doesn’t just have the Sun and Moon in this intense sign, but also Mars and Mercury. This stellium in the sign of death, sex, and transformation is heightening everyone’s spiritual feelers and causing a great rebirth. When the moon is in Scorpio emotions are heightened, dreams are prophetic, and there is a magical intuition that can sense when a big wave is about to crash into the shoreline. Mars in Scorpio, Scorpio’s traditional ruler, ignites passion for transformation and relationships. It can cause steamy evenings and wild nights. Mercury is Scorpio helps us communicate from a radically honest and vulnerable place when with the right people, though communication with those outside your immediate circle of trust might take your words as harsh or sharp during this time. To mitigate this, pay attention to when you may be getting extra fired up and take three deep breaths.
New Moons are a time of renewal, setting goals, letting go of the last month fully and looking to the horizon of what we can create. Paired with the energy of Scorpio, this renewal takes form as either the serpent shedding its skin or the Phoenix combusting so as to rise from the ashes depending on what phase you are in at this time. Utilize this New Moon to shed any aspects of yourself that are ready to die, honor those aspects by possibly creating an altar or shrine to them, perform a proper funeral for those parts of yourself, and then allow yourself to get creative of who you want to be. For many, this time of the year is the true New Year, and any seeds you plant now will be tended to throughout the Winter and blossom during Spring.
Uranus and Saturn will be causing a little bit of challenge to this New Moon, but in the best, most transformative way. Uranus, the planet of unexpected changes, will be opposing the New Moon in the sign of Taurus. This will create a little resistance when setting intentions as Taurus’ energy is uncomfortable in big changes and may try to keep us small. As a rule of thumb, whatever your dream, add an intensity of 10x to it during this time! Saturn will also be adding some spice to this New Moon as it’s in a slight t-square with the Moon and Uranus in the sign of Aquarius. Though we may be wanting to focus on personal transformation, what Saturn will require of us is to consider the whole of humanity in this vision. Saturn’s long game at the moment is to lift up the community and to help us all evolve through challenges together. The remedy for Saturn’s intensity is to remember you are not alone and to lean into whatever resources you have currently… even if it’s your journal.
Pluto, the modern ruler of Scorpio and thus the ruler of this chart is in the sign of Capricorn. Pluto is all about power and when in Capricorn we see the crumbling of society and structure as we know it. Usually this can feel like a terrifying place to be in, but with Scorpio ruling the sky this death can be welcomed as exciting and renewing, as long as we trust in the cycle of rebirth. Allow yourself to mourn what is gone or dying and to fear what is to come, but at the end of the day tap into the excitement of something new and have faith that your active participation will help manifest good for all humanity.
I hope you all have a transformative New Moon in Scorpio! If you didn’t know, I am a Scorpio with five aspects in Scorpio so this is my vibe of the century. I hope you can enjoy it as much as I do! Allow this rebirth to be the excitement you need to catalyze the next ten years.
All my love,
Olivia
